My Philosophy: Whether I'm attempting to connect history to current events or even wax poetic about my own socio-political beliefs, I have found no better way to articulate my opinions than through printmaking. The methodical process of printmaking tempers any knee jerk reaction and helps me dissect the ideology at the heart of any particular issue. My work often employs allegorical devices and sets them against the white, negative space of paper to draw the viewer’s attention to the print. My prints can seem ambivalent at first glance because of their benign looking, illustrative images. However, viewing my prints in the right light (both literally and metaphorically) enhances the juxtaposition of the debossing and printed imagery to produce a more complex and cohesive statement.
